Terms of Service
Last updated: October 24, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of metalapi.com, the MetalAPI REST API, realtime stream, embeddable widgets and price alerts (together, the “Service”) operated by MBC LABS LTD, trading as MetalAPI, a company registered in England and Wales under number 17441201 with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom (“MetalAPI”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Accounts and API keys
You need an account to use the API. You must be at least 18 years old, or have the legal capacity to enter into a contract, and provide a valid email address. If you use the Service on behalf of a company, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms for it.
You are responsible for keeping your password and API keys confidential and for all activity under your account and keys. Do not publish keys in client-side code unless they are restricted to your domains. If you believe a key has been compromised, revoke it in the dashboard and tell us.
2. Plans, billing and cancellation
The Free plan is free of charge. Paid plans are subscriptions billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through our payment processor Stripe. Prices and plan features are listed on the pricing page; applicable taxes may be added.
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
- Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from the billing page of your dashboard. You keep access to your paid plan until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Upgrades. Upgrades take effect immediately.
- Free trials. Some paid plans may start with a free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and the plan fee is charged.
- Price changes. We may change plan prices. Changes apply from your next billing period, and we will notify you in advance so you can cancel before they take effect.
- Refunds. Fees already paid are non-refundable, except where required by law. We may grant refunds at our discretion on a case-by-case basis.
- Failed payments. If a payment fails and is not resolved, we may move your account to the Free plan.
3. Usage limits and fair use
Each plan comes with a monthly request quota, a per-minute rate limit, a data update interval and a set of features, as described on the pricing page and in our documentation. Requests above your limits are rejected until the limit resets; we do not charge overage fees automatically. Quotas reset on the first day of each calendar month (UTC).
The Service is shared infrastructure, so we ask everyone to use it fairly. In particular, you may not:
- create multiple accounts or keys to get around the limits of your plan,
- attempt to bypass rate limits, quotas, domain restrictions or other access controls, or
- place an unreasonable load on the Service, for example through runaway scripts or abnormal traffic patterns.
If your usage harms the stability of the Service for others, we may throttle or suspend it. Where reasonable, we will contact you first.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service:
- for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws or regulations,
- to probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service without our written permission,
- to interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers or networks,
- to reverse engineer, decompile or copy the Service, except as permitted by law, or
- to share your API keys publicly or let third parties use your account.
5. Use of price data
While your account is in good standing, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the data returned by the Service in your own websites, applications, internal systems and reports, including showing prices and values derived from them to your own users.
You may not resell, sublicense or redistribute the raw data feed, for example by offering it as your own API, data feed or bulk download, or by giving third parties direct access to it, without a separate written enterprise agreement with us. Contact us if you would like to discuss redistribution.
6. Data accuracy and no investment advice
Prices are collected from third-party sources such as interbank feeds, futures exchanges, cryptocurrency exchanges and central bank reference rates. We work hard to keep them accurate, but data may be delayed, incomplete or occasionally wrong, and prices update only at the interval of your plan.
All data is provided for informational purposes only. It is not investment, financial, tax or legal advice and not an offer or recommendation to buy or sell any asset. Do not rely on the Service as your only source for trading or other financial decisions. Price alerts and webhooks are delivered on a best-effort basis and may be delayed or missed.
7. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service available around the clock, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and maintenance may occasionally be required. Current status is shown on our status page. Uptime commitments apply only to plans that explicitly include a service level agreement, under the terms of that agreement.
We continuously improve the Service and may add, change or remove features, endpoints or symbols. We will give reasonable advance notice of changes that would break existing integrations, except where a change is needed for security or legal reasons, or because a data source is no longer available.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, documentation and the compilation of its data, belongs to MetalAPI and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Apart from the licence in section 5, these Terms do not grant you any rights to it. You may not use our name, logo or trademarks without our prior written consent. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
9. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from the settings page of your dashboard. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, fail to pay, abuse the Service or put its security at risk. When your account ends, your right to use the Service and the data licence in section 5 end as well. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including sections 6, 8, 10 and 11, remain in effect.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all data are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, timeliness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MetalAPI and its owners, employees, partners and suppliers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, or trading losses, arising from:
- your use of, or inability to use, the Service,
- any errors, delays or interruptions in the data or the Service,
- any decisions you make based on the data, or
- unauthorised access to your account or transmissions,
whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence) or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damage. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, such as liability for intent or gross negligence, or the rights consumers have under mandatory law.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protection laws of the country where you live remain unaffected. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. Our failure to enforce a right or provision is not a waiver of it.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we will notify you by email or in the dashboard at least 30 days before they take effect. By continuing to use the Service after the changes take effect, you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, you can cancel and delete your account before then.
